Analysis
This resolution approves an amendment to the Redevelopment Plan for the Downtown Retail Center Redevelopment Project Area. This Project Area generally encompasses the area bounded by West Wisconsin Avenue, West Michigan Street, North 4th Street, and the Milwaukee River. The amendment changes sections of the Redevelopment Plan to permit parking in basements and residential uses above the second floor in all buildings within the Office/Retail District in the Plan. Currently parking and residential uses are only permitted in the 101 West Wisconsin Avenue building.
Body
Whereas, On May 30, 1978, the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee ("Authority") and on May 22, 1979, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee ("Common Council") adopted a Redevelopment Plan for the Downtown Retail Center Redevelopment Project Area ("Plan") and said Plan was modified by Amendment No. 1 on February 23, 1987 by the Authority and on February 24, 1987 by the Common Council, by Amendment No. 2 on November 4, 1993 by the Authority and on November 24, 1993 by the Common Council, by Amendment No. 3 on April 30, 1998 by the Authority and on May 27, 1998 by the Common Council, by Amendment No. 4 on November 19, 1998 by the Authority and on January 19, 1999 by the Common Council, and by Amendment No. 5 on June 8, 2000 by the Authority and on July 13, 2000 by the Common Council; and

Whereas, The Authority desires to further modify the Plan to permit parking in basements and residential uses above the second floor in all buildings within the Office/Retail district in the Plan; and
