Analysis
In order to make the code consistent with new Medicare billing regulations, this ordinance establishes 2 categories for the billing of ambulance conveyances. The rate for either type of conveyance, Basic Life Support or Basic Life Support - Emergency, is the same and will, temporarily, be set at the current rate provided by the code, $252.55 per conveyance.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 75-15-14-c of the code is repealed and recreated to read:
75-15. Ambulance Certification Regulations.
14. AMBULANCE RATE.
c. The rate charged for conveyance shall be, for Basic Life Support, $252.55 and, for Basic Life Support - Emergency, $252.55. In addition, a charge of $6.74 per mile shall be assessed for mileage, mileage to be defined as the distance traveled with the patient in the ambulance from the point of patient origin to destination.
