Analysis

This resolution names the tot lot at S. 35^th St. and W. Pierce St. "Arlington Heights Park", and authorizes and directs the Department of Public Works to provide appropriate signage.

Body

Whereas, The tot lot at S. 35^th St. and W. Pierce St. currently does not have a name, making it difficult for police to respond quickly when needed; and

Whereas, Naming and providing a sign for this tot lot would increase its visibility in the neighborhood, thereby potentially drawing more area residents to the area; and

Whereas, Naming this tot lot and placing a sign with the name near W. Pierce St. would alert drivers to the presence of a tot lot and the presence of children, thereby alerting drivers of the need to slow down and be aware of children playing in the area; and

Whereas, This area is listed as part of "Arlington Heights" on the tax roll; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the tot lot at S. 35^th St. and W. Pierce St. is named "Arlington Heights Park"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the proper city departments are authorized and directed to complete the tot lot signage and installation.
