Analysis
This ordinance makes the following changes to the rules governing employe benefits:

1. It raises to $100,000 the cap on the amount of supplemental group life insurance coverage that may be purchased by employes represented by District Council 48.

2. It increases the per mile mileage reimbursement paid to employes represented by District Council 48 who drive more than 500 miles a month.

3. It adds the position of inspection specialist to those eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Part 1. Section 350-25-4-b-4 and 5 of the code is renumbered 350-4-b-5 and 6.

Part 2. Section 350-25-4-b-4 of the code is created to read:

350-25. Group Life Insurance.

4. AMOUNT OF INSURANCE.

b-4. No later than 30 days prior to the date established by the city, an employe represented by Milwaukee District Council #48, AFSCME, AFL-CIO in active service or who after that date retires on disability and under the age of 65 eligible for and taking base coverage shall be eligible to apply for supplemental coverage, at his or her option, in increments of $1,000 to a maximum of 1.5 times his or her annual basic salary rounded to the next higher thousand dollars of earnings or $100,000, whichever is greater.
