Charter ordinance file number 960253, effective April 29, 1997, permitted any city employe who withdrew his or her accumulated pension contributions prior to January 27, 1969, to repurchase retirement service credit by October 1, 1997 by repaying the amount of the withdrawal, together with interest. This charter ordinance, referencing file number 960253, permits employes who were not notified of the provisions of file number 960253, to apply to repurchase prior retirement service credits.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Any individual who was eligible to repurchase prior retirement service credits pursuant to the provisions of part 1, common council file number 960253, and who did not receive notice relating to such repurchase, shall, notwithstanding the provisions of part 1, common council file number 960253, be permitted, within 90 days of the effective date of this ordinance December 26, 2000, to apply to have his or her membership and the credits for service which he or she had at the time of such separation restored.

Part 2. This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect 60 days after its passage and publication, unless within such 60 days a referendum petition is filed as provided in s. 66.01(5), Wis. Stats., in which event this ordinance shall not take effect until submitted to a referendum and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.
