Title
Resolution relative to backup power generation for the Linnwood Water Treatment Plant.
Analysis
This resolution increases authorized expenditure for the Linnwood Water Treatment Plant of $11,643,000.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Water Works embarked on the provision of backup power generation for five water treatment and pumping facilities in 2008; and
Whereas, Backup power generation is operational at the Riverside Pumping Station and the Florist Pumping Station, is under construction at the Grange Pumping Station, and the design is complete for the Linnwood Water Treatment Plant; and
Whereas, The sequencing of the projects differed somewhat from the 2006 concept due to changed economic and site-specific situations, and excellent progress has been made and water users are enjoying increased security in the provision of water in the event of power disruptions; and
Whereas, The Linnwood Backup Power Project, including the Linnwood Gate Project, was in 2006 given a conceptual estimate of $4.5 million and now that the design has been finalized, the construction estimate is $11,643,000 if the contracted is executed in early 2014, and $13.97 million if the contract is executed in late 2014; and
Whereas, $8,211,234 has been previously appropriated for the project, and $3,431,766 of additional appropriation is required to complete construction; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Water Works anticipates financing the cost of the project with borrowing; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the authorized expenditure for capital account WT450108100 is increased by $3,431,766 to provide $11,643,000 for the Linnwood Backup Power Project; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the increased authorized expenditure shall be funded by contingent borrowing authorized by Resolution Number 130941.
