This substitute resolution approves $153,500 for streetscape improvements adjacent to the new Johnson Controls facility at 525 East Michigan Street; along North Jackson, East Michigan, and North Jefferson Streets.
BODY:
Whereas, Johnson Controls, Inc. is nearing completion on the construction of its 120,000 square foot, $15 million technology center at 525 East Michigan Street; and

Whereas, The facility will be known as the Brengel Technology Center, in honor of its past chairman, and will serve as a national customer service center and showplace for the company's advanced controls technology and its expertise in creating quality building environments; and

Whereas, The company anticipates the project will be home to approximately 90 new administrative, para-professional and managerial positions one year after project completion and up to 350 new jobs within four years; and

Whereas, Johnson Controls, Inc. has requested City of Milwaukee assistance in funding the installation and acquisition of streetscape improvements in those sections of the public way adjoining this facility and their current Controls Group Headquarters at 507 East Michigan Street, i.e., along North Jackson Street, East Michigan Street and North Jefferson Street; and

Whereas, The estimated cost of these street improvements is $153,500; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee will benefit from these streetscape improvements by enhancing the pedestrian environment of this area; now, therefore, be it
