ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the payment from the Remission of Taxes Fund in the amount of $626.84 for the 1983 real estate taxes for the property located at 231 South 3rd Street, tax key no. 428-0512-220-4 and $947.89 for the 1983 real estate taxes for the property located at 2130 North Humboldt Avenue, tax key no. 354-0430-100-2 and $998.74 for the 1992 real estate taxes for the property located at 2111 North 38th Street, tax key no. 348-1007-7.
BODY:
Whereas, The CMSTP&P Railroad, known as the Milwaukee Road filed bankruptcy in the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern District on July 2, 1978; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee received final payment on its various claims filed in the bankruptcy in October, 1985, and
Whereas, The 1983 real estate taxes for the following properties owned by CMSTP&P Railroad were inadvertently not credited: 231 South 3rd Street, tax key no. 428-0512-220-4, in the amount of $626.84; 2130 North Humboldt Avenue, tax key no. 354-0430-100-2, in the amount of $947.89; and
Whereas, Steven J. Washington filed bankruptcy in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Wisconsin, Case No. 9321218 CNC in 1993; and
Whereas, The claim of the City of Milwaukee in said bankruptcy for 1992 real estate taxes for the property at 2111 North 38th Street owned by Steven J. Washington included $1,080.00 in administrative costs, and the trustee paid the City the original claim which was applied to the administrative costs, leaving a balance of $998.74 for taxes, now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to cancel as accounts receivable the 1993 real estate taxes for the property located at 231 South 3rd Street, tax key no. 428-0512-220-4, in the amount of $626.84 and 2130 North Humboldt Avenue, tax key no. 354-0430-100-2, in the amount of $947.89, and the 1992 real estate taxes for the property located at 2111 North 38th Street, tax key no. 348-1007-7 in the amount of $998.74; and be it
Further Resolved, That the City Treasurer be and hereby is authorized and directed to charge said amounts to the Remission of Taxes Fund, Special Purpose Account No. 636508,0001,2210,0100-S163.
