Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for a COPS in Schools Grant (Police Department).
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice - Office of Community-Oriented Policing Services; and
Whereas, It is appropriate for the City of Milwaukee to apply for such grant funds; and
Whereas, the Milwaukee Police Department and the Board of Directors of Milwaukee Public Schools are developing a program for increased Police support at MPS schools, as required by the COPS in Schools grant program; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to apply for COPS in Schools funding from the U.S. Department of Justice; and, be it
Further Resolved, That acceptance and expenditure of these funds by the Milwaukee Police Department is not authorized herein and any such acceptance and expenditure shall require express Common Council approval by adoption of a separate resolution.
