This ordinance increases the number of members on the equal rights commission from the current 5 to 7.
 
 
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
 
Part 1. Section 109-15-1 of the code is amended to read:
 
109-15. EQUAL RIGHTS COMMISSION. 1. The mayor shall appoint an equal rights commission, subject to confirmation by the common council, consisting of [[5]] >>7<< members, one of whom shall be elected chair at the first regular meeting of each calendar year by a majority of the members of the commission. The members shall be city residents, appointed from a representative cross-section of the community and shall continue to hold office only so long as they shall reside within the city. They shall receive compensation for their services.
