Resolution approving a contract extension for Regional Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team Services between the State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs, Division of Emergency Management and the City of Milwaukee.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, 1991 Wisconsin Act 104 authorized the State Emergency Response Board ("SERB") to contract with no fewer than 7 public entitles with regional emergency response teams to assist in emergency responses to Level A releases in a region of the state designated by the SERB; and
 
Whereas, The SERB issues a request for proposals, the Milwaukee Fire Department submitted a proposal and the SERB selected the Milwaukee Fire Department to provide an emergency response team for a geographical area consisting of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Washington, and parts of Jefferson County; and
 
Whereas, The parties entered into a contract to run five years commencing July 1, 1994; and
 
Whereas, The state has proposed an extension of the contract for a period of one-year, running from July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000; and
 
Whereas, The Fire Chief and the City Attorney recommend that the Common Council approve the extension agreement; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to enter into an extension agreement for Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team Services between The State of Wisconsin (SERB) and the City of Milwaukee, a copy of which is annexed to the file.
