This resolution formally grants an amended special privilege changing the name to Old World Third Street Organization and grants permission for the placement of benches, trash cans and planters in the public right-of-way of Old World Third Street between West State Street and West Juneau Avenue.
Body
Whereas, The Downtown Third Street Advancement Association requested a special privilege for moveable planters, waste baskets, aluminum signs, gas lamps and electrical conduits in the right-of-way of Old World Third Street; and

Whereas, Permission was granted in 1985 by adoption of Common Council Resolution File Number 74-512-b; and

Whereas, The Downtown Third Street Advancement Association has become the Old World Third Street Organization; and

Whereas, The applicant has installed new benches, trash cans and moveable planters; and

Whereas, Brick pavers located within the Old World Third Street right-of-way between West Juneau Avenue and West State Street are owned by the City of Milwaukee except for the brick driveways at Usinger’s, which extend into the paved sidewalk area and are covered under a separate permissory resolution; and

Whereas, Previously existing aluminum business community signs have been removed from the public right-of-way and replaced by fabric banners; and

Whereas, There currently exists a permit process which allows the hanging of banners on streetlight poles and the aforementioned fabric banners are subject to that process and, thus, permission for the banners is not granted by this special privilege resolution; and
