Resolution approving plans for street configuration changes proposed for the intersection of North 4th Street and West Wells Street in conjunction with Phase II of the Midwest Express Convention Center project. (DPW)
ANLS:
- ANALYSIS - This resolution approves plans for proposed changes to the configuration of the North 4th Street and West Wells Street intersection. The proposed changes would provide for a smooth transition from the median divided section of North 4th Street north of West Wells Street to the undivided section of North 4th Street south of Wells.
BODY:
Whereas, Phase II of the Midwest Express Center project spans West Wells Street between North 4th and North 6th Streets; and
Whereas, The project will result in improvements to this section of West Wells Street including alteration of the curb lines at the intersection of Wells and 4th; and
Whereas, North 4th Street currently is median divided north of Wells and undivided from that intersection south; and
Whereas, The existing transition between these two different street segments is somewhat awkward resulting in potential traffic hazards and unnecessarily long pedestrian crosswalks; and
Whereas, The Midwest Express Center project presents an opportunity to construct a better connection between North 4th Street north of Wells and North 4th Street south of Wells;
Whereas; Plans for this new connection have been prepared by the Department of Public Works; and
Whereas, The planned improvements will be completed by DPW in conjunction with the Wisconsin Center District; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the plans for modifications to the North 4th Street and West Wells Street intersection as presented to the Common Council's Public Improvements Committee are hereby approved.
