Analysis

This resolution directs the Department of Administration-Community Development Grants Administration to inform the Common Council of any audits conducted or in progress by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development related to federal funds allocated to the City.

Body

Whereas, The Department of Administration, Community Development grants Administration is responsible for applying for, recommending the allocation of, and overseeing the effective use of local, state and federal funds for programs in targeted central city neighborhoods; and

Whereas, The Community Development Grants Administration oversees an estimated federal entitlement allocation of $19,000,000; and

Whereas, Recent news reports have identified complaints alleging misuse of federal grant funds allocated to the City which have triggered audits conducted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of the Inspector General; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, That the Department of Administration-Community Development Grants Administration is directed to immediately inform the Common Council of audits conducted or in progress by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development related to federal funds allocated to the City.
