Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to accept a donation of a memorial bench from the Heinzelmann family for placement at the Marcus Deback Playground, 2461 N. 55th Street.
Body
Whereas, Joseph and Sophie Heinzelmann immigrated from Germany and settled in Milwaukee in 1929; and
 
Whereas, Joseph and Sophie's 4 children -- the first-generation Heinzelmanns -- grew up across the street from and frequently played at the Wright Street Playground, currently known as the Marcus Deback Playground, 2461 N. 55th Street; and  
 
Whereas, The children of Joseph and Sophie Heinzelmann went on to achieve  successful careers in social justice, medicine and the non-profit sector, and raised their families with values they learned while growing up in this Milwaukee neighborhood and playing at the Wright Street Playground; and
 
Whereas, This park remains a special place to the Heinzelmann family; and
 
Whereas, The second-generation Heinzelmanns - Paul Heinzelmann, Anne (Heinzelmann) Protheroe, Laura (Heinzelmann) Moore, Lisa (Heinzelmann) Hensley, Josh Heinzelmann, Catherine Miller, Elisabeth Miller, Joseph Miller, Robin Miller, Mark Heinzelmann, Eric Heinzelmann and Fred Heinzelmann - have offered to donate a bench for placement at the Marcus Deback Playground in honor of Joseph and Sophie Heinzelmann and their children, first-generation German-Americans Conrad Heinzelmann, Fred Heinzelmann, Erwin Heinzelmann and Rosemary (Heinzelmann) Miller; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is authorized to accept the generous donation of a memorial bench from the Heinzelmann family for placement at the Marcus Deback Playground located at 2461 N. 55th Street, in accordance with established City policies and procedures for acceptance of donations.
