Title
Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a Fund for Lake Michigan Grant, “Porous Walks.”
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works-Operations Division-Forestry Section to accept and fund a Fund for Lake Michigan Grant “Porous Walks.” The purpose of this grant is to demonstrate the use and application of porous concrete sidewalk as an effective stormwater management tool. The total project cost is $40,000 of which 100% will be provided by the grantor with no cost-share from the City required. The program will include the following components:

1. Installation of porous concrete sidewalk segments between the driveway and driveway approach in conjunction with street reconstruction projects
2. Project locations include:
a. Edison Street between Juneau and Highland Avenues
b. 72nd Street between Locust and Burleigh Street
3. Capture stormwater runoff from private driveways and sidewalks that would otherwise drain to the street and into the sewer system

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Fund for Lake Michigan Grant; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works would use this grant to install porous concrete sidewalks to reduce stormwater runoff; and

Whereas, This project would include the following components:

1. Installation of porous concrete sidewalk segments between the driveway and driveway approach in conjunction with street reconstruction projects
2. Project locations include:
a. Edison Street between Juneau and Highland Avenues
b. 72nd Street between Locust and Burleigh Street
3. Capture stormwater runoff from private driveways and sidewalks that would otherwise drain to the street and into the sewer system

Whereas, The operation of this grant from June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2014 would cost $40,000, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
