Resolution authorizing the issuance of a street and alley occupancy permit to Northtrack Construction for work at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design student housing at East Menomonee Street and East Erie Street.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes City officials to issue an occupancy permit to Northtrack Construction allowing them to occupy the southerly 207 feet of the north/south alley in the block bounded by East Menomonee Street, East Erie Street, North Water Street, East Chicago Street and North Broadway.
Body
Whereas, Northtrack Construction has been retained to construct the new Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) housing building at East Menomonee Street and East Erie Street; and
Whereas, Northtrack Construction has requested to occupy the entire north/south alley adjacent to the site; and
Whereas, Northtrack Construction will be responsible to contact all affected property owners and businesses informing them that the alley will be closed; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one-third of the width of the alley while temporary use beyond that point must be approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue a permit to Northtrack Construction allowing occupancy of the entire width of the southerly 207 feet of the north/south alley bounded by East Chicago Street and North Broadway until August 2014; and, be it
Further Resolved, That Northtrack Construction is also permitted to occupy the sidewalk and curb lane area on East Menomonee Street and East Erie Street adjacent to the MIAD housing development.
