Analysis
This ordinance increases the amount charged for both basic life support and basic life support -emergency ambulance conveyances for 2 categories of patients established by the code: residents and non-residents. The increases are as follows:
1. For residents, from $529 to $568. The fee for treatment without transport is increased from $126 to $135.
2. For non-residents, from $612 to $657. The fee for treatment without transport is increased from $180 to $193.

In addition, this ordinance increases the amount charged for mileage. Mileage is defined as the distance traveled with the patient in the ambulance from point of origin to destination. The rate, for both residents and non-residents, is increased from $18.50 to $19 per mile.

This ordinance does not change basic life support ancillary charges billed by private sector providers.
