Analysis
This ordinance exempts officials appointed to city boards, commissions or committees from the requirement that statements of economic interests be filed if the city boards, commissions or committees did not meet in the preceding calendar year.
The ordinance also exempts officials whose written resignations have been reported to the city clerk under s. 320-2.
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 303-11-1-a of the code is amended to read:
303-11. Financial Disclosure.
1. REQUIRED.
a. [[Any]]>>Except as provided in par. d, any<< individual who in January of any year is an official and is required to file as so designated by the city positions ordinance shall file with the board no later than February 28 of that year a statement of economic interests. The information on the statement shall be current as of December 31 of the preceding year.
Part 2. Section 303-11-1-d of the code is renumbered 303-11-1-e.
Part 3. Section 303-11-1-d of the code is created to read:
d. Any official required to file a statement of economic interest under the positions ordinance solely as a result of appointment to a board, commission or committee is exempt from the filing requirement under par. a. if the board, commission or committee did not meet during the prior calendar year or whose resignation has been reported to the city clerk as required in s. 320-2. This exemption shall not apply to a person who is reappointed in a subsequent calendar year or who is otherwise required to file a statement of economic interests under par. b or c.
