Analysis
This resolution directs the Department of Employee Relations to initiate a request-for-proposal process to select a vendor for group life insurance for City employees and retirees. The benefit shall be designed as approved in Common Council Resolution File Number 121686 and begin January 1, 2014, for a term to be determined in the request-for-proposal process.
Body
Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 071060, adopted December 11, 2007, authorized a 3-year contract with Standard Life Insurance to provide life insurance coverage for City employees and retirees from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2010; and
Whereas, The contract with Standard Life Insurance was extended in Common Council Resolution File Number 111663, adopted December 18, 2012, and is set to expire December 31, 2013; and
Whereas, The Department of Employee Relations has recommended a new benefit design in Common Council Resolution File Number 121686, to be acted on concurrently with this resolution; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Employee Relations is directed to initiate a request-for-proposal process to select a vendor for group life insurance for City employees and retirees of the City; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the benefit shall be designed as approved in Common Council Resolution File Number 121686 and begin January 1, 2014, for a term to be determined in the request-for-proposal process.
