Analysis
This ordinance clarifies that permanent full-time employees who do not qualify for veterans' preference shall receive the equivalent of their city pay for each day the employees would have worked for the city during the period while on leave, reduced by the amount of base pay received for their military or disaster duty or training.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
 
Part 1.  Section 350-36-2-b-2 of the code is amended to read:
 
350-36. Military and National Medical Disaster System Leave.
2.  LEAVES FOR MILITARY TRAINING, NATIONAL MEDICAL DISASTER SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT, OR CIVIL DISTURBANCES.
b.  Compensation.
b-2.  Permanent full-time employees of the city [[of Milwaukee]] who do not qualify for veterans' preference, as described in subd. 1 [above], shall receive [[their full city pay, less a deduction equal to their military pay received for duty under subd. 1]] >>the equivalent of their city pay for each day the employees would have worked for the city during the period while on leave, reduced by the amount of base pay received for leaves of absence under par. a-1<<; the amount of military pay shall not be deducted for purposes of computing pension benefits.  This provision shall not include training or deployment on the Wisconsin Disaster Medical Assistance Team.
