Resolution authorizing the transfer of Milwaukee Jobs Act funds to LISC Milwaukee for operation of the LEAP youth employment program.

This resolution authorizes the transfer of $10,000 designated in the Milwaukee Jobs Act in Common Council Resolution File Number 120313, adopted on July 24, 2012, for the operation of the LEAP youth employment program to the Milwaukee office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC Milwaukee).
Body
Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 120313, adopted on July 24, 2012, commonly known as the Milwaukee Jobs Act - Transitional Jobs Program, allocated $10,000 to implement LEAP, a summer jobs program; and
Whereas, In 2012, LEAP was operated collaboratively by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Milwaukee and the City's Earn and Learn program, with the support of the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD); and
Whereas, LISC Milwaukee succeeded in recruiting 18 positions for youth participating in LEAP in summer 2012; and
Whereas, LISC Milwaukee is willing to assume all operational responsibilities for the program in 2013, while maintaining the involvement of MPD; and
Whereas, LISC Milwaukee has established a goal of creating 48 youth jobs through LEAP in 2013; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of City Development is directed to enter into a cooperation agreement with LISC Milwaukee to operate LEAP in 2013; and, be it
Further Resolved, That $10,000 designated in Common Council Resolution File Number 120313, for the operation of LEAP shall be transferred to LISC Milwaukee.
