Title
Resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the Milwaukee County Community Safety Data Repository from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund Milwaukee County Community Safety Data Repository from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance (OJA) in the amount of $50,000. The purpose of the grant is to create a data collection system/repository of criminal justice and partner information to carry out the necessary research and analysis from a merged data set to determine the effectiveness of the JAG Criminal Justice Coordinating Council's Evidence Based Decision Making Initiative.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance (OJA) for the Milwaukee County Community Safety Data Repository in order to create a data collection system/repository of criminal justice and partner information; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 07/01/12 to 06/30/13 would cost $50,000 which would be provided entirely by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that acceptance of the grant from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance (OJA) is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2013 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Milwaukee County Community Safety Data Repository:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2013 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment;
3. Expend from the 2013 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff;
4. Enter into subcontracts as detailed in the grant budget; and, be it
