Analysis
Currently, departments must first receive authorization by common council resolution to apply for and accept grant funds. Under this ordinance, departments are permitted to apply for grant funds with prior mayoral approval. The department of administration shall report monthly to the city clerk a list of grants for which departments have been approved by the mayor to apply. Common council resolutions are still required for acceptance of grant funds.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 304-81-4-b of the code is amended to read:
304-81. Grant Projects and Programs.
4. FUNDING INDIVIDUAL GRANTS.
b. >>No department may apply for grant funds without prior approval by the mayor.<< Common council resolutions for grants shall be required prior to [[application and]] acceptance of funding. No department may [[apply for or]] accept grant funds without the prior approval of the appropriate resolution by the common council.
Part 2. Section 304-81-4-i of the code is created to read:
i. The department of administration shall on a monthly basis provide to the city clerk a list of grants for which departments have been approved by the mayor to apply.
