Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works, Infrastructure Services Division to accept and fund additional work for the Inflow and Infiltration (I/I), Demonstration project in the amount of $670,000 with an Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) reimbursement amount of $670,000 with the City of Milwaukee (City) paying for additional costs above the allocated amount. The purpose of the funding is to reduce the amount of I/I, ultimately reducing the chances of basement backups to residents in the area bounded by North 82nd Street to North 92nd Street from West Center Street to West Burleigh Street. This area was identified by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and MMSD as having high levels of inflow and infiltration. This resolution also authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a funding agreement between the City and the MMSD.

Whereas, The City is eligible for additional funding in 2012 from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) through its private property Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) reduction program; and

Whereas, The City has bid out the original contract and is requesting additional money for properties in the project area that have been added; and

Whereas, The work proposed for this area is for the rehabilitation of approximately 84 additional sanitary building sewers (laterals) utilizing a cured-in-place lining (trenchless) method; and
