Title
Resolution authorizing the installation of a new traffic control signal at the intersection of West North Avenue and North 51st Street in the 15th Aldermanic District.
 
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install a new traffic control signal at the intersection of West North Avenue and North 51st Street with funding from the Department of Public Works capital fund at an estimated cost of $70,000.  
 
Body
Whereas, The traffic volumes at the intersection of West North Avenue and North 51st Street exceed federal warrants in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for the installation of a traffic control signal; and
 
Whereas, The installation of a traffic control signal at the intersection of West North Avenue and North 51st Street will provide for a better exchange of right-of-way over the existing stop control resulting in a reduction in traffic congestion; and
 
Whereas, The estimated cost of the installation of a traffic control signal is $70,000, and is included in the Department of Public Works traffic signal capital fund approved under Common Council File Number 111014; and
 
Whereas, The installation of a traffic control signal at West North Avenue and North 51st Street is scheduled for summer 2012; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to install a new traffic control signal at the intersection of West North Avenue and North 51st Street using funding from the Department of Public Works capital fund.
