Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to accept the donation, by the Enderis Park Neighborhood Association, of a volleyball court to be constructed at Enderis Playfield, 2978 North 72nd Street.
Body
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The Enderis Park Neighborhood Association has applied for a grant of $10,000 from the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative, administered by the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation; and
Whereas, The Enderis Park Neighborhood Association would like to combine this grant money with $10,000 of its own matching funds to pay for the construction, by a private contractor during the summer of 2012, of a new volleyball court at Enderis Playfield, a City-owned recreation facility at 2978 North 72nd Street; and
Whereas, The volleyball court would replace an existing basketball court, which would be removed at the Neighborhood Association’s expense; and
Whereas, The proposed volleyball court would be a valuable asset to the Enderis Park neighborhood and to the City; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is authorized to accept donations of materials and services from the Enderis Park Neighborhood Association for the removal of a basketball court at Enderis Playfield, 2978 North 72nd Street, and construction of a new volleyball court in its place; and, be it
