Analysis
This resolution approves the expenditure of $5,000 from the 2012 Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account for hosting a delegation from Guangdong Province, China, on June 28, 2012.
Body
Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Special Purpose Account is to be used to promote the City of Milwaukee’s economic development programs and attracts new businesses to the City; and

Whereas, A 36-member delegation composed of government officials from Guangdong Province, China, will be attending a professional program at the University of Chicago hosted by the 21st Century Institute; and

Whereas, On Thursday, June 28, 2012 the Guangdong Province delegation will be in the City of Milwaukee and is scheduled to visit City Hall, the Menomonee Valley, and Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles; and

Whereas, The Guangdong Province delegation will be learning about Milwaukee’s economy from traditional manufacturing industry to service industry, the City’s Small Business Development Program, development of large central-city industrial parks; and

Whereas, Through hosting the Guangdong Province delegation the City may benefit from foreign direct investment in potential projects and future business relations; and

Whereas, The appropriation of $5,000 will be beneficial to the City to aid in an exchange of government resources management, education and culture while hosting the Guangdong Province delegation; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $5,000 is appropriated from the 2012 Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purposes Account No. 0001-1310-S123-006300 for hosting a delegation from Guangdong Province, China.
