Title
Resolution approving a contract extension for Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team services between the State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs, Division of Emergency Management and the City of Milwaukee.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to extend the six-month contract with the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Division of Emergency Management that operated from January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2012, for a twelve-month period from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. The agreement allows the Milwaukee Fire Department to provide regional hazardous response team services within an area including Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha and Washington counties and parts of Jefferson County. The department has been providing these services since the adoption of Common Council File Number 941618, and as extended by Common Council Files 990598, 020318, 050049, 070577, 090121, 110005 and 111224. Under the terms of the amended contract, the City will be eligible for stand-by costs of up to $268,685.51 for the period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

Whereas, 1991 Wisconsin Act 104 authorized the State Emergency Response Board (SERB) to contract with no fewer than 7 public entities with regional emergency response teams to assist in emergency responses to Level A releases in a region of the state designated by the SERB; and

Whereas, Common Council File Number 941618, adopted February 14, 1995, directed the Milwaukee Fire Department to enter into an agreement with the SERB to provide these services for a geographical area consisting of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, and Washington counties and parts of Jefferson County; and
