Resolution to authorize the City Attorney to represent Willie Hines, Robert Bauman, and Ashanti Hamilton in  Milwaukee et al. v. Stepp & Huebsch, in their capacity as individuals, and to indemnify them from any liability, including costs or fees, resulting therefrom.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City Attorney to represent Willie Hines, Robert Bauman, and Ashanti Hamilton in their individual capacities, in the lawsuit entitled Milwaukee et al. v. Stepp & Huebsch, Case No. 12-CV-1902, which seeks, among other things, restoration of the full amount of Recycling Grants.  This resolution also authorizes the City to indemnify these three individuals from any liability resulting from their participation in this litigation.
Body
Whereas, On May 11, 2012, the City Attorney commenced litigation on behalf of the City against Secretary Cathy Stepp of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Secretary Michael Huebsch of the Wisconsin Department of Administration in an effort to restore full Recycling Grant Funding; and
 
Whereas, Willie Hines, Robert Bauman, and Ashanti Hamilton joined the City's suit in their individual capacities; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Attorney is authorized to represent Willie Hines, Robert Bauman, and Ashanti Hamilton in their individual capacities, and that the City indemnify these individuals from all liability, including fees and other costs, resulting from the above-noted litigation; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That such legal representation and indemnification is in the City's best interests and serves a public purpose.
