Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of the Bridging the Summer Reading Gap Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library to accept and fund a Bridging the Summer Reading Gap Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in the amount of $48,860 with a City share of $21,719, and a grantor share of $27,141. The purpose of the project is to support educators to work with children who have been identified at the greatest need for literacy enrichment.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin for the purpose of supporting educators to work with children who have been identified at the greatest need for literacy enrichment; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 02/01/12 to 12/31/12 would cost $48,860 of which $21,719 (44%) would be provided by the City and $27,141 (56%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Public Library shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2012 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled “Bridging the Summer Reading Gap Grant”:
