Title
Substitute resolution approving the extension of a contract between the City and Valuation Solutions, LLC, for the provision of specialized assessment services despite the provisions of s. 310-12 limiting the ability of departments to contract with retirees.
Analysis
This resolution extends the contract between the City and Valuations Solutions, LLC, for the provision of specialized assessment services in the Assessor's Office in the amount of $50,000 for a period of one year.
Body
Whereas, The City has contracted with Valuation Solutions, LLC, for approximately 5 years; and
Whereas, Valuation Solutions, LLC, has provided specialized assessment services through the Assessor's Office including, but not limited to, the following:
1. Processing internal and state reports.
2. Conducting data analysis.
3. Conducting website design and maintenance.
4. Conducting network, data server and microcomputer maintenance and administration.
5. Documenting critical systems and procedures.

Whereas, Valuation Solutions, LLC, has provided quality specialized assessment services over the course of its prior contract periods; and
Whereas, The Assessor's Office is requesting to enter into an extension of the contract in the amount of $50,000 for a period of one year beginning February 1, 2012; and
Whereas, Section 310-12 of the Code limits the ability of departments to contract in professional service contracts unless otherwise approved by the Common Council; and
Whereas, The Council considers the fulfillment of this contract to be a special circumstance; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the extension of the contract between the City and Valuation Solutions, LLC, a copy of which is attached to this file, is approved.
