Title
Resolution rescinding special privileges granted to direct sellers that are no longer necessary.
Analysis
This resolution rescinds special privileges granting permission to direct sellers to operate in the public right-of-way, which are no longer necessary due to revisions made to the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Code of Ordinance had required applicants for direct seller licenses to obtain a special privilege to operate in the public right-of-way from a push cart, table or other stationary display prior to issuance of the license; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Code of Ordinances has been revised such that direct sellers no longer are required to obtain and maintain a special privilege to operate in the public right-of-way; and
Whereas, In order to release current direct seller licensees from the insurance and annual special privilege fee requirements, which are part of the granting of a special privilege, the Common Council needs to pass a resolution rescinding these special privileges, which are no longer needed; now, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the following special privilege resolutions are hereby rescinded:
1. Common Council Resolution File Number 892450 granted to Okorie Okpara to operate as a direct seller at several locations within the public right-of-way in the downtown area.
2. Common Council Resolution File Number 971299 granted to Devoe Enterprises Inc to operate as a direct seller at several locations within the public right-of-way at various locations.
