Title
Resolution relating to the Police Administration Building Study Task Force.
Analysis
Common Council Resolution File Number 100006 established a Police Administration Building Study Task Force to analyze the Police Department's building space needs and alternatives for meeting those needs.  It also required the Task Force to report its findings to the Capital Improvements Committee within 3 months of the date of adoption of the resolution.
 
This resolution changes the reporting requirement for the Police Administration Building Study Task Force such that it shall report its findings to the Common Council's Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development and Public Works Committees no later than December 31, 2012.
Body
Whereas, On May 25, 2010, the Common Council adopted File Number 100006, a resolution establishing a Police Administration Building Study Task Force to analyze the Police Department's building space need and alternatives for meeting those needs; and
 
Whereas, File Number 100006 required the Police Administration Building Study Task Force to report its findings to the Capital Improvements Committee within 3 months of the date of adoption of the resolution; and
 
Whereas, The Police Administration Building Study Task Force has not yet reported its findings to the Capital Improvements Committee or any Common Council standing committee; and
 
Whereas, The Mayor's 2012 Proposed Budget included $5.5 million in capital funding for remodeling portions of the Police Administration Building; and
 
Whereas, On November 4, 2011, by a vote of 12 "ayes" to 3 "noes," the Common Council approved Amendment 40 to the 2012 Proposed Budget, thereby eliminating 2012 capital funding for remodeling the Police Administration Building; and
 
Whereas, As this budget amendment indicates, the Common Council continues to believe there is a need to study alternatives to remodeling the existing Police Administration Building, including but not limited to alternative development sites in the City of Milwaukee and alternative development models such as joint-use or mixed-use building; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the last "Further Resolved" clause of Common Council File Number 100006 is rescinded and replaced by the following:
 
"Further Resolved, That the Police Administration Building Study Task Force shall report its findings to the Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee and the Public Works Committee no later than December 31, 2012, and shall thereafter be dissolved."
