Title
Resolution relating to retiree health insurance for members of Association of Law Enforcement Allied Services Personnel (ALEASP).
Analysis
This resolution clarifies that members of the Association of Law Enforcement Allied Services Personnel who retire prior to December 31, 2011, will be eligible for retiree health insurance under age 65, the same as general City represented and non-represented employees.
Body
Whereas The City has provided general City employees, including represented and non-represented employees who are eligible to retire in 2011, with retiree under-65 premiums based on current labor contracts; and
 
Whereas, The labor contract with the Association of Law Enforcement Allied Services Personnel (ALEASP) ended in 2007 and was not renewed; and
 
Whereas, The intent of the City was to provide members of ALEASP eligible to retire with the same benefits; and
 
Whereas. Common Council File Number 070011, adopted on July 26, 2011, states these represented employees shall receive healthcare benefits, including the cost of coverage, identical to those of City management employees effective September 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011; and
 
Whereas, The intent of Common Council File Number 070011 was to provide the ALEASP retirees with the same retiree options prior to December 31, 2011, as other general City represented and non-represented employees, rather than the same
benefit as management employees; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that members of ALEASP who retiree prior to December 31, 2011, will be eligible for retiree health insurance under age 65, the same as general City represented and non-represented employees.
