Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Employee Relations to initiate steps to provide Long-Term Disability insurance to civilian police employees and parking checkers.
Body
Whereas, All non-uniform City employees with the exception of civilian police employees and parking checkers are eligible for Long-Term Disability (LTD) benefits; and
 
Whereas, The City intends to provide the same benefits to this group of active City employees as the City does to other civilian general city employees; and,
 
Whereas, The 2012 City budget includes funding of $65,000 for the cost of LTD for this group of employees; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council authorizes the Department of Employee Relations to initiate steps to provide Long-Term Disability Insurance through Standard Insurance beginning January 1, 2012, to
civilian police employees and parking checkers.
