Title
Resolution accepting the donation of a privately owned vacant lot at 3526 West Galena Street in the Washington Park neighborhood from the Wisconsin Preservation Fund, in the 15th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes donation of a privately owned residential vacant lot to the City of Milwaukee.
Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Preservation Fund ("WPF"), in cooperation with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation ("LISC"), acquired a dilapidated house at 3526 West Galena Street with the intent of assembling residential development sites for infill housing in the Washington Park neighborhood; and
 
Whereas, WPF and LISC demolished the house, but plans for single-family construction have been delayed due to economic conditions; and
 
Whereas, WPF and LISC have offered to donate the lot to the City of Milwaukee ("City") and provide clear title so that all property needed for future development may be assembled in the common ownership of the City; and
 
Whereas, After donation, the Department of City Development ("DCD") will work with the Washington Park Partners to market the assembled site for future housing development to complement the neighborhood; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City is authorized to accept donation of the vacant lot at 3526 West Galena Street from the Wisconsin Preservation Fund; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of DCD, or designee, is authorized to execute a Donation Agreement, accept the deed and to execute any documents necessary to acquire clear title to the property.
