Title
Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Around the Corner to Better Health Grant from the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program (Medical College of Wisconsin).
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Around the Corner to Better Health Grant from the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program (Medical College of Wisconsin) in the amount of $40,000. The purpose of the project is to increase healthy food and fresh produce availability in an urban community with a high concentration of convenience stores.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program (Medical College of Wisconsin) to assure that our community find ways to get healthy food in stores, explore food distribution options and improve the overall health and well-being of our community; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/12 to 12/31/13 would cost $40,000 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program (Medical College of Wisconsin) is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Ordinance 304-81; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2012 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Around the Corner to Better Health Grant:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund-Grant and Aid Project/Grant and under the grant agreement; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2012 Positions Ordinance C.C. File Number 110441, should be amended as follows:
