This ordinance clarifies current code provisions relating to the right of a person to appeal to the common council the denial, suspension or revocation of a home improvement contractor or salesperson certificate, thereby deleting the right to appeal with respect to a new (original) certificate.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
 
Part 1. Section 95-14-15 of the code is amended to read:
 
95-14. Home Improvement Contractors and Salesmen to be Certified.
 
15.      APPEAL. Any person aggrieved by the action of the license committee [[in denying an application by revoking or suspending]] >>relating to nonrenewal of a certificate, or suspension or revocation of<< a certificate >>issued<< under this section, may within 10 days appeal to the common council by filing a request in writing with the city clerk. After the filing of any such appeal to the common council it shall set a time and place for hearing on such appeal, and notice shall be given to the appellant at least 7 days prior to said date set for hearing. After such hearing the common council may sustain, modify, or reverse the direction of the license committee.
