This resolution authorizes and directs the proper City officials to prepare and execute appropriate conveyance documents to facilitate the sale of an 11-acre City-owned parcel at 6577 North 107th Street to August Urbanek for $92,000. This vacant parcel is under the jurisdiction of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, which has determined the property to be surplus.


BODY:
Whereas, The Milwaukee Board of School Directors site inventory includes Site 74, an undeveloped 24.3-acre parcel located near the intersection of North 107th Street and West Mill Road; and

Whereas, Site 74 was originally acquired for the purpose of future development of a middle school or high school on the property; and

Whereas, In 1995, August Urbanek, owner of adjoining property which is being developed as Heritage Heights subdivision, approached the Board of School Directors with an unsolicited offer to purchase a portion of Site 74; and

Whereas, On May 27, 1998, the Board of School Directors approved a resolution to declare an 11-acre portion of Site 74 surplus and to sell said parcel to Mr. Urbanek for $92,000; and

Whereas, The Board of School Directors plans to retain the balance of Site 74 for possible future school development; and

Whereas, Mr. Urbanek intends to use the 11-acre parcel for development of single-family housing and a storm water retention pond; and

Whereas, If the Board of School Directors constructs a school on the balance of Site 74, such school would benefit from the proposed storm water retention facility; and

Whereas, Department of City Development and Milwaukee Public Schools staff feel that $92,000 is a fair market price for the portio...
