Substitute resolution relative to the application, acceptance and funding of the U. S. Department of Justice Weed and Seed Grant - North for $275,000, the Weed and Seed - South for $225,000 and the Weed and Seed - United South for $225,000, and authorization of the Social Development Commission to exercise administrative and supervisory functions.
Analysis
This resolution authorized the Department of Administration's Community Block Grant Administration (CBGA) to apply, accept and fund all Weed and Seed Grants from the U. S. Department of Justice and authorizes the Social Development Commission to exercise administrative and supervisory functions with respect to the Weed and Seed programs funded by the United States Department of Justice.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is eligible for grant funds for the Weed and Seed Grant programs, under CFDA Number 16.595, from the United States Department of Justice; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is also eligible for a one time additional grant funding opportunity up to $50,000 under the Weed and Seed Grant program for public assisted housing programs; and

Whereas, The Common Council in CCFN 980248 has approved the administrative and supervisory function of the Social Development Commission for the Weed & Seed Programs; and

Whereas, The operation of these grant programs from October 1, 2002 through September 30, 2003 would cost $370,297 for the Weed and Seed - North and $323,439 for the Weed and Seed - South, and $314,599 for the Weed and Seed - United South; and

Whereas, The Grantor Share for these grants would be provided as follows:
Weed and Seed - North $275,000
Weed and Seed – South $225,000
Weed and Seed - United South $225,000

and,

Whereas the City Share for these grants would be provided as follows:
Weed and Seed – North $95,297
Weed and Seed – South $98,439
