Body
Whereas, The Kings Konnect event creates awareness and offers resources to boys and young men regarding the dangers of human trafficking, which is the use of force, fraud, lies or coercion to exploit people for labor, services, or commercial sex; and
Whereas, The event would be modeled after the Pot of Gold event, which teaches girls and young women about the dangers of human trafficking and serves as a hub for sharing resources to prevent and combat human trafficking; and
Whereas, Although human trafficking is a largely hidden crime that is underreported, the Milwaukee Police recorded 35 human trafficking cases in 2023, 37 cases in 2024, and 37 cases so far in 2025; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Kings Konnect is declared to be an official City event; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council-City Clerk’s Office is authorized to accept and expend gifts for this purpose; and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish a special account within the Common Council -City Clerk’s budget for the expenditure of the contributions; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Special Purpose Account for Contributions, 0001-2110-0001-006300-D001, and the Estimated Revenue Account for Contributions, 0001-2110-0001-009850, to the Common Council-City Clerk’s Special Account, 0001-1310-DXXX-006300 or -006000 as directed by the City ...
