Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a permit to the contractor awarded the contract for the historic renovation of City Hall, allowing occupancy of the south third of the Market Street roadway (between City Hall and the Zeidler Municipal building) (55 feet).
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue an Occupancy Permit to the contractor awarded the contract for the renovation of City Hall during the renovation of said building located at 200 East Wells Street. The permit would allow said contractor to occupy approximately the south third of market Street (55 feet) of the entire roadway between City Hall and the Zeidler Municipal Building. This would temporarily change Market Street from a one way street to a two way street from Kilbourn Avenue to the entry to the Lower Parking Garage at the Zeidler Municipal Building. There would be no parking along the sections east or west of Market Street.

Whereas, A general contractor will be awarded the contract to renovate City Hall; and
Whereas, Given the constraints of the site, certain staging, storage, and construction activities will necessarily spill over into adjacent streets; and
Whereas, Construction is expected to last from July, 2005, through December, 2008; and
Whereas, A contractor will be requesting permission to occupy the south third of the Market Street roadway (between City Hall and the Zeidler Municipal Building); and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to issue a permit for temporary occupancy of up to one third of the roadway adjacent to building sites while temporary use beyond that must be approved by the Common Council; and
