Title
Substitute resolution approving a city group life insurance contract between United of Omaha Life Insurance Company and the City of Milwaukee covering the period of January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2007.
Analysis
Common Council File No. 020953 approved the selection of United of Omaha Life Insurance Company as the City's group life insurance carrier for the period 2003 through 2007. It authorized the Executive Director of the Employes' Retirement System and the City Attorney to negotiate the terms of the formal agreement between United of Omaha Life Insurance Company and the City for approval by the Common Council. This resolution approves the formal contract documents prepared and negotiated in accordance with the Common Council directive and authorizes the proper City officers to execute on behalf of the City those documents necessary to make the formal contract effective.

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File No. 020953 approved the recommendation of the selection of Mutual of Omaha as the City's group life insurance carrier for the period 2003 through 2007, and directed the Executive Director of the Employes' Retirement System and the City Attorney to negotiate the terms of a formal agreement between United of Omaha Life Insurance Company and the City of Milwaukee for approval by the Common Council; and
Whereas, The formal agreement has been negotiated; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the formal agreement between United of Omaha Life Insurance Company and the City of Milwaukee, as annexed to the file, be and hereby is approved and the Executive Director of the Employes' Retirement System and the City Attorney be and hereby are authorized and directed to execute the application and take all steps necessary to make such formal agreement effective.
