Resolution relative to the application, acceptance and funding of a Wisconsin Department of Transportation Harbor Assistance Grant Project for The Port of Milwaukee in connection with road and rail crossing rehabilitation on East Scott Street.


BODY:
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, in accordance with State Statute, requires a Statement of Project Intentions from local units of government intending to apply for Federal and/or State aid for harbor related work of benefit to commercial transportation within the next three years; and

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee approved the Three-Year Harbor Development Statement of Intentions for The Port of Milwaukee for 1997-1999 through adoption of Resolution File Number 960030 on May 14, 1996; and

Whereas, Such Statement of Intentions, which includes the aforementioned project was transmitted to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation; and

Whereas, Such Statement of Intentions includes Road and Rail Crossing Rehabilitation as a 1997 project; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee made application with the State of Wisconsin for Harbor Assistance Program aid; and

Whereas, Such application was subsequently rejected by the State; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee did not include the aformentioned project in the 1998-2000 Three-Year Harbor Development Statement of Intentions; and

Whereas, The State Department of Transportation has suggested The Port of Milwaukee resubmit an application at this funding level at this time; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee plans to request State aid for the aforementioned project; and
