Substitute resolution authorizing the transfer and expenditure of $80,000 from the Development Fund to cover site development costs for the Brown Street Initiative for new residential construction, in the 15th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This substitute resolution will permit the Department of City Development to spend $80,000 for site development costs to make suitable for new single-family residential construction eight City-owned vacant lots.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee ("City") owns over 500 vacant lots suitable for new home construction; and

Whereas, The City has an ongoing commitment to promote new homeownership and to revitalize neighborhoods; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development is working to make eight City-owned vacant lots suitable for new single-family residential construction; and

Whereas, A parcel on Brown Street between 23rd and 24th Streets is of irregular terrain and in need of an alley extension to make this eight-lot project feasible; and

Whereas, Funds to cover site development costs, including infrastructure improvements, are necessary to ready the lots for residential construction; and

Whereas, The 2005 Capital Budget for the City contains $80,000 in the Development Fund for said costs; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to transfer $80,000 from the Development Fund Project Parent Account to the Brown Street Initiative Project Account No. UR03397400 for the purposes stated herein; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller, in conjunction with the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, is authorized and directed to establish any and all subaccounts and follow the City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal control to carry out the intent and purpose of this resolution; and, be...
