Analysis
This resolution authorizes easements for the underground installation of utility facilities on City-owned property at the Port of Milwaukee that is under the jurisdiction of the Board of Harbor Commissioners.
Body
Whereas, Wisconsin Electric Power Company, doing business as WE Energies, provides electrical services to the Port of Milwaukee ("Port") through facilities on the City-owned properties at 550 Adjacent North Harbor Drive and 1225 South Carferry Drive; and
Whereas, The Port requires WE Energies to provide additional electrical service to several facilities on Port property and WE Energies requires that such service be provided through underground distribution easements, copies of which are attached to this Common Council File; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee ("City") shall not require compensation for the easements because these easements provide electrical services to municipal facilities; and
Whereas, The Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the easements at its meeting on December 8, 2011 and requested Common Council approval of the documents; and
Whereas, The Department of City Development and the Department of Public Works have reviewed the easements and recommend approval; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the easements with Wisconsin Electric Power Company for City-owned property at the Port of Milwaukee are approved and that the proper City officials are authorized to execute the easements.
