This resolution accepts an easement from the Williams Steel & Supply Company, Incorporated for the construction, maintenance, and operation of an industrial spur railroad track to be constructed on Williams Steel & Supply Company's property. Said easement is required as a condition of a State of Wisconsin Transportation Economic Assistance (T.E.A.) Grant which provides funds to Williams Steel through the City of Milwaukee as a local sponsor. Although Williams Steel is made responsible for the spur track by virtue of other agreements, the City technically must retain ownership of the improvements. Hence, the need for the easement.


BODY:
Whereas, Resolution File Number 970479, adopted by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee on July 11, 1997, authorized the City of Milwaukee's participation, with Williams Steel & Supply Company, Incorporated and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, in a Transportation Economic Assistance (T.E.A.) Grant project to construct an industrial railroad spur track to serve the expanded Williams Steel processing and distribution center located at 999 West Armour Avenue in the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The terms of the T.E.A. Grant require that the City of Milwaukee retain ownership of the improvements constructed with grant monies and that the City of Milwaukee demonstrate that it has secured the property rights necessary to operate and maintain the spur track; and,
