Resolution amending the funding of the FY2020 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG).
Analysis
This resolution amends Common Council File Number 211210 relating to acceptance and funding of the FY2020 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program - Local Solicitation grant. The resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a supplemental grant award of $288,881 from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $288,881. The supplemental grant award increases the existing grant from $347,652 to $636,533 to provide federal criminal justice funding to local governments. The City will serve as the fiscal agent on behalf of the Cities of Milwaukee and West Allis, and Milwaukee County with funding for all units of local government to be used to pursue criminal justice activities as guided by local Memorandum of Understanding.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice to provide federal criminal justice funding to local governments; and

Whereas, Funding for FY2020 JAG was accepted by Common Council File Number 211210 on December 14, 2021; and

Whereas, A supplemental grant award in the amount of $288,881 with a City share of $0 and a grantor share of $288,881 has been made available for criminal justice funding for local governments; and

Whereas, The City will serve as the fiscal agent for the FY2020 JAG Program grant funds on behalf of the Cities of Milwaukee and West Allis, and Milwaukee County with funding for all units of local government to be used to pursue criminal justice activities; and
