Title
Resolution approving a contract between the City of Milwaukee and Grzeca Law Group for legal services relating to securing an employment-based nonimmigrant visa for a prospective Department of Emergency Communications employee.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Office of the City Attorney to enter into a contract for legal services with the law firm of Grzeca Law Group to provide counsel in relation to securing an employment-based nonimmigrant visa for a non-citizen candidate to work in the Department of Emergency Communications. The law firm of Grzeca Law Group has a history of helping professionals in obtaining employment-based visas.
Body
Whereas, Section 304-23 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances allows the Common Council to authorize retention of a law firm outside the City Attorney’s permanent staff, pursuant to a written agreement; and

Whereas, The Department of Emergency Communications seeks to hire a non-citizen candidate for the position of Business Intelligence Analyst; and

Whereas, The non-citizen candidate requires an employment-based nonimmigrant visa prior to being able to work for the City; and

Whereas, The Department of Emergency Communications intends to fund the legal services of Grzeca Law Group and all associated visa fees for the H-1B visa petition with money from Account 0001-3400-R999-634005; and

Whereas, The City desires to retain Grzeca Law Group to secure an employment-based nonimmigrant visa for non-citizen candidate now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the appropriate City officials are authorized to execute a contract for legal services between the City, Grzeca Law Group, and the non-citizen candidate, a copy of which is attached to this file, or one substantially similar, and to take the steps necessary to fulfill the terms of the contract.
